Dos and Don’ts of Facemasks

The experts suggest wearing cloth face coverings or face masks in public settings where other social distancing measures are hard to maintain, such as pharmacies and grocery stores, while traveling on public transportation, and visiting your doctor. The virus can extend through respiratory drops between people communicating in proximity, such as talking, coughing, or sneezing. Wearing a face covering in public can assist guard others if you are contaminated with the virus and don’t know it, as you can pass on the virus to others before showing symptoms. 

Wearing a mask can also assist you to keep your hands away from your nose and mouth, which can assist decrease your own risk.

Paul Edalat, being an expert in this talk about some dos and don’ts of sporting face masks:

 

  • Do sport the cloth face mask whenever you go out.
  • Do wear a mask at the house if you reside and communicate with an older adult or someone who is immunocompromised.
  • Do make sure your mask has numerous coatings of tightly-woven material and that you can respire through it.
  • Do carry on practicing good social distancing by staying at house, avoiding contact with others, and staying 6 feet away from others when you go out in public.
  • Do wash your hands before you put on your mask, each time you touch it and after removing it right away.
  • Do wash your cloth mask after each use with detergent and hot water, then dry it in the dryer thoroughly.
  • Do ensure your mask fits cozily against your face and covers your mouth and nose with no gaps.
  • Do know the appropriate way to put on and remove the mask.
  • To put it on, grab the mask and pinch it at the ear loops or grab the upper ties. In case of ear-loop style masks, fix ear loops behind the ears. In case of tie back style masks, fix upper ties first behind your head, then fix lower ties behind your head. Place the same side of a reutilized mask against your face always.
  • Remove the mask carefully and gradually without touching the outside of it or your nose, eyes, or mouth. Eliminate earloop masks by holding the ear loops. Dispose of tie back masks by untying upper ties last and lower ties first; make sure the ties do not fall into clean interior side of mask. If you plan to use again the mask, place it in a bag until you can wash it.

Don’t

 

  • Paul Edalat says that it is not needed to put a mask on a young child under age 2 or anyone who has problem breathing or is injured, unconscious, or unable to remove the cloth face covering without help.
  • Do not shove your mask down on your chin to drink or eat. Remove it totally, perform hand hygiene, and then put it back on tightly when done.
  • Do not ignore to carry on taking other precautionary measures, including staying six feet away from others, focusing where your hands are, and washing your hands frequently.
